Most people have heard that Medicare doesn't cover dental or vision. Vision being yearly eye exams & glasses.
Medicare does cover cataracts, retinal detachments, macular degeneration & the like. Examples like these are covered by Part B.
Most people are surprised to hear that Medicare don’t cover are Long Term Care & Home Health Care. Ironically, they are often the most important services Seniors will require.
With the fastest growing demographic in the United States being 100 years old & above, & the second fastest growing demographic being 85 years old & above, it doesn't take much to see how important it could be to have Long Term Care Coverage & Home Health Care Coverage.
Home Health Care provides services that make your life easier when you’re sick or have mobility problems. Examples of this are light housekeeping, transportation, meal preparation, medication reminders, respite care, errand services as well as companionship.
I know from the Financial Advisors I've spoken with (many of my referrals come from Financial Advisors & CPAs) that there are new products out that are far better than the ones offered in the past.
Some of them have options that will allow you to age at home (by providing care) so that you don't have to move into an assisted living facility.
I don't work with any Long Term Care Insurance plans (because I'm a purist & specialize in Medicare), but I do recommend that people check into them.
I would also recommend that everyone be just as careful about who they use for this insurance as they would be for their Medicare.
If this is something you are interested in & are not sure who to go to for help, I'll be happy to make some referrals for you.
